Introduction to Community Based Natural Resources Management Programme

This programme helps national parks and protected areas to develop and implement their strategy on community based natural resource management.

Applying PRA tools such as problem trees, seasonal calendar, timeline, village transect, semi-structure survey on knowledge, skill and attitude, matrix on natural resource using and decision, and option matrix, the programme empowers and encourages local people to take part in every step of the process to develop and implement the community based natural resources management strategy. There is not a “one-size-fits-all” solution for all communities. The solution for natural resource management might including a combination of improving knowledge, equipping with skills, changing attitude, improving livelihoods or removing economical and political barriers. The final goal is to conserve  nature though supporting local people to maintain sustainable behaviour.
